This tour of Budapest’s Jewish Quarter offers an insightful journey through the Jewish community's resilience and struggle, especially during WWII. You’ll view three historic synagogues from the outside:

Dohány Street Synagogue – Europe’s largest synagogue, renowned for its Moorish Revival architecture and Holocaust memorials, including the Tree of Life, a poignant tribute to victims.

Rumbach Street Synagogue – Built in the Moorish style, this recently restored landmark reflects the area’s once-thriving pre-war Jewish life. Inside, Islamic-style wall paintings and intricate patterns add a unique, exotic beauty to its architecture.

Kazinczy Street Synagogue – An Art Nouveau gem that remains the heart of Budapest’s Orthodox Jewish community, known for its vibrant stained glass and serene courtyard.

The tour includes a stop at the last remaining section of the WWII ghetto wall, a stark reminder of the tragic confinement imposed in 1944, where thousands of Jewish residents suffered. Along the way, you’ll hear the stories of brave diplomats who risked their lives to save Jews, such as Raoul Wallenberg and Carl Lutz.
